2 Ways To Troubleshoot Your Air Conditioner

Your car's air conditioner can make summer much easier. But that doesn't mean that it's always in good shape. If your air conditioner has stopped working, you may want to know some problems it could be, so being able to troubleshoot the problems can help you get it fixed as soon as possible.

Air Conditioner Stops Cooling

If your air conditioner isn't blowing cold air at you anymore, you may be frustrated. There are several things that the problem could be. One thing that it could be is a freon leak. Freon is the cooling liquid that keeps your car's air conditioner cold. If the freon isn't getting to where it needs to be, then you aren't going to get the cold air. The leak could be happening around O rings or your air conditioner hoses. The sooner you can find the leak the better off you are going to be because that means you are going to make sure that nothing else is going to get into your system and make it worse. There is an interesting way that you can look to see if you have a leak in your system. Most AC cooling liquids react to UV light. So, you can shine a blacklight at them to see if they react. If they do, then you probably have a leak.

Air Conditioner Has Weak Airflow

If your air conditioner still is blowing cold air but isn't nearly as much air as it should be blowing, there are things that could be causing the problem. One of the problems it could be is that the seals around your air conditioning system are failing. Your air conditioner is supposed to be a closed system. If the seals are starting to fail, then the system opens up, and some of that cold air will end up blowing out of the system and not as much will get into your car. Another problem could be that the hoses are loose in your air conditioner. If the hose that supplies air to the blower unit is loose, then the blower won't have enough air to blow into your car.

If you depend on your car's air conditioner to stay comfortable while you are driving, then you want to make sure that it's working as well as possible.
